Ali, Peter and Sue are joint founders of the 'Australian Foundation for Chronic Conditions'
Sue on the 13th of September 2009 had a fundraiser for Breast Cancer of which she is a survivor. Her original story can be found by following this link http://www.siouxsspace.com/mystory
Sue was to take place in a ride from LA – San Francisco on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle (sponsors) in October with a organisation called Amazon Heart www.amazonheart.org However a disease that she had been diagnosed with in 1985 ‘Sarcoidosis’ was impacting on her life and was advised by her Medical Team that she was unfit to travel as she had a Chronic Condition. Sue has since commenced inflammation therapy for her disease and is currently receiving support from the Chronic Illness Recovery Organisation http://www.chronicillnessrecovery.org in America in conjunction with her Physician in Sydney, NSW, Australia.
Sue’s journey is being documented by her at the following site.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Siouxsherat
Sue with the wonderful help of her partner Brian Beaven raised over $5,500.00.
Sue made the announcement that her wishes was to start a foundation for people with Chronic Conditions, Diseases, or Illnesses. She told people her journey and how it had impacted on her life over the last 25 years. She asked that if anyone knew of a company or organisation that would be prepared to financially back her dream to let her know.
That day 13th of September 2009 her dream was to become a reality. A young lady came forward who was prepared to donate $10,000.00.
Previously that week a gentleman named Peter had seen an advertisement in the local paper for the fundraiser and had got in touch with Camden Golf Club as he would like to talk to Sue as to how he could help with her fundraising efforts.
Peter came on that day and instantly became a co-ordinator collecting names of interested people and performers who would be willing to help in future fundraising efforts. Peter’s profile will be added shortly.
The first meeting will take place on 20th September 2009 to brain storm the foundation’s next steps.
If you would like to get involved please email Sue atsue@siouxsspace.com
At the moment the Australian Foundation would like a volunteer accountant and lawyer to come forward to guide them through the process of setting up a legal entity as swiftly and correctly as possible. They wish to become non-profit making and be a tax deductable foundation.
